Cooking Instructions for Fresh Crab Cakes
Oven Baking Instructions
- Fresh: Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Reform crab cakes into a ball or patty shape to help them hold together.
- Place in a shallow baking pan and pour ½ cup melted butter over the crab cakes.
- Add 2oz of water to the pan.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes (or 8-10 minutes for smaller crab balls) until golden brown.
- Dust with Old Bay before serving. (Oven times may vary.)
Broiling (Fresh Only) Instructions
- Follow the same steps as oven baking but broil on high for the last 2-3 minutes for an extra crispy top.
Deep Frying (Fresh Only) Instructions
- Preheat fryer to 325°F.
- Reform crab cakes into a ball or patty shape and keep them as cold as possible.
- Fry until golden brown or longer for extra crunch.
- Ensure the internal temperature reaches 140°F.
- If needed, place in a 350°F oven for an additional 5 minutes to reach the desired temperature.
Air Fryer
- Not recommended, as fresh crab cakes may be too delicate for air frying.
